Liverpool South Circle No 164

Liverpool South is the youngest of the three Liverpool circles. It was inaugurated on 2nd March 1953 with a meeting held at the Exchange Hotel,Tithebarn Street, Liverpool.

The Circle is now based in South Liverpool, at The Hallmark Hotel Liverpool South (which was The Alicia Hotel) 3 Aigburth Drive, Sefton Park, Liverpool.

Our meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month. The meeting is followed by a three course dinner, currently costing £16.00.

Ladies Post-Circles, including dinner, are held in July, December and April.

The February meeting is clergy night with invited local clergy as guests for dinner.

Membership, (40 Brothers), is mainly drawn from the South Liverpool area, but we do have Brothers from the Wirral and many visitors from the Provinceand further afield, who enjoy the post circle dinner. At some dinners, we have speakers to add to the occasion.

Several social events take place annually for brothers, family and friends. These include a Race Day at a local course, Family Bowls and a Wine Tasting evening at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool. There is a strong ladies group of wives, the ‘Cat Ladies’, who are actively involved with the social events of the circle, organising, for example, history walks in Liverpool City centre.

The incumbent Circle President annually nominates a charity for which fundsare raised by a raffle at dinner and other suitable occasions.
